Tim Andersen has been actively involved in the appraisal of real property since 1986. Since then he has worked for some of the largest appraisal firms in Palm Beach County, Florida, the County Property Appraisers Office, as well as himself. His experience in appraisal extends from Key West in the south to Brooksville on the northwest part of the state, and many places in between. This experience includes, vacant sites and raw land, office buildings, apartment complexes, warehouses, schools, day care centers, condo units, condo complexes, and so forth. He has done expert witness work, tax appeals, eminent domain, mortgage, and estate work.
In 1990, the former Society of Real Estate Appraisers awarded him the SRPA designation. In 1997, the Appraisal Institute awarded him the MAI designation. In 2002, he qualified to be a USPAP instructor. He still teaches both the 7-hour update and 15-hour qualifying classes to both real property and personal property appraisers. His formal education consists of a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, as well as a Master of Science degree, specifically in real estate appraisal, from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.
Teaching, writing, and consulting with his fellow appraisers are what he loves to do. He started teaching the sales persons and brokerage classes in the mid 80s at the local community college, then taught basic appraisal classes when it offered those programs. He has taught for the Appraisal Institute, the National Association of Master Appraisers, the National Association of Appraisers, National Aircraft Appraisers Association, the Association of Texas appraisers, the State of Arkansas, the State of Oklahoma, the Wisconsin Realtors® Association, the Columbia Institute, as well as numerous proprietary schools. In addition to teaching, he has also written numerous articles on various facets of real estate appraisal, two books (with another in the works), as well as numerous classes and seminars on various real estate appraisal-related topics.
Tim and his wife Debbie live in Florida, with their three children and their four grandchildren close by.
